Ariel Veritas

Ariel Veritas

"Tween rippling sea of blue-green hue,
And crumbl'ing earth of darkened brown,
From a rock whence both are viewed,
Drifts a soft and mournful sound.

Upon it sits Mademoiselle de la Mer,
Whose beauty outshines the sun,
Anemonie tress'ed golden hair,
Storm-grey eyes whose rain hath come.

No choice exists for the gentle heart,
And all her dreams so grand,
Crystle tears to the sea impart,
N'er to walk the land.

Her echoed sorrow can be heard,
In grottos far and near,
Anon, perchance, her longing words,
If you'll but lend an ear.
