DEAR SWEET LEOTA[1]
 BELOVED BY ALL
IN REGIONS BEYOND NOW,
BUT HAVING A BALL [2]
Name: "Little" Leota D’Thave
Born:   October 1, 1853
Died:   November 30, 1871
Little Leota, as she was affectionately called, was born in mystery, lived in the shadows and died by the Hand of Providence. In her short and tragic life she became a witch, a liar, thief, extorter, maligner, debaucher and murderess. In all, she was among the wickedest people to ever walk the planet and bore little guilt for all her crimes.
Little Leota was the illegitimate daughter of Madam Leota. Most acknowledge that Master George Gracey Jr. was the father though he never accepted her openly. As the offspring of an Ota, she was destined to a life of witchcraft. She learned at her mother’s knee the power of force and fear and controlled others merely by the threat of her displeasure. Other weapons at her disposal included: beauty, ruthless ambition, a complete lack of conscience and the occasional drop of poison. She wielded all with a superb viciousness.
To catalogue all the evil which trailed in her wake would be impossible. One can hardly imagine how she accomplished it all in such a short life. And while many of her tales are recounted here and elsewhere to the horror of all good people, few ever offer her spirit consolation.
Little Leota never had a chance. Her mother and mother before, going back countless generations were imbued with supernatural powers. They held a secret to unlocking the mysteries of Life, how to maintain, control and displace a soul. From time immemorial these women were steeped in evil until no hint of good or compassion remained. Into this world was Little Leota born and raised until even as a five year old she was capable of murder and by 13 was believed to have done so.
This young woman was the perfect Ota. The product of grooming for eons to form the one with the innate power, and will to use it. This fact was also her undoing, for Madam Leota was by no means willing to share her powers soon. The great conflict erupted in 1870 after Little Leota poisoned the well water and killed 30 people in a spiteful desire to embarrass her Father.
“Trompent”, for so Mother always referred to the child in private, “Have I taught you nothing?! We are so close to having all we have strived for. Centuries of plotting to regain this house. Millennia in the effort to focus the void and control all…and you would throw it away for what? A few seconds of pleasure at the sight of writhing bodies. You are a fool and unworthy of the title Ota.”
“Mother, why are you so angry? They were nothing, stupid and blind people who were unaware of our power.”
“Precisely! We cannot expose ourselves until we have control of the other side. Only then will we have the power to rule and reign. Foolish girl!”
The daughter’s sullen voice was barely audible, “If you gave me the powers, I would teach them to respect us.”
Madam Leota whirled to face her child, “Know this…you will never become Ota. I have failed to teach you what it means. You have become a waste of breath.”
A shocked and amazed Little Leota stumbled out of her mother’s chambers. Never had she considered this possibility. In a breathless panic she began to formulate plans. And plans within plans.
